This type of crutch walking is good for patients who have one operated limb and other is a normal limb, therefore the patient is able to partial to full weight bear on the operated limb.
Video.1 Demonstration of a three point crutch walking gait.
Note how the patient is placing his operated limb in line with both the crutches, and moving forwards.
The same can be attempted with a walker as well.
Note:
This type of crutch walking should be attempted only when the patient is allowed partial to full weight bearing on the operated leg.
Depending on the fracture configuaration and the stability of the fracture fixation the treating doctor will be the right person to suggest this form of ambulation.
Assisted crutch walking should be attempted in consultation with your Doctor/Physiotherapist and needs supervision, do not try this at home.
