Weight bearing as tolerated with crutches / walker

Weight bearing as tolerated can be done in two ways :

  1. Three point crutch walking

  2. Four point crutch walking

  1. Three point crutch walking

Note:

  • This type of crutch walking should be attempted only when the patient is allowed partial to full weight bearing on the operated leg.

  • Depending on the fracture pattern and the stability of the fracture fixation the treating doctor will be the right person to suggest this form of ambulation.

  • Assisted crutch walking should be attempted in consultation with your Doctor/Physiotherapist and needs supervision.

2. Four point crutch walking
